Nature’s Masks

A special workshop where nature meets the magic of Carnival! Together, we’ll discover the wild animals of the Veneto region and their incredible natural “disguises”—the colours, shapes, and patterns that help them blend into their surroundings. Through observation, storytelling, and hands-on creative activities, children and families will create masks inspired by local wildlife while learning that camouflage is one of nature’s most remarkable survival strategies.

What We’ll Do

  • We’ll begin our adventure with an outdoor story, introducing the fascinating world of camouflage in nature and discovering how animals and insects hide among plants, sand, and rocks.
  • We’ll explore the surrounding environment to uncover the many survival strategies used by wildlife, looking beyond camouflage to discover the remarkable adaptations nature has evolved.
  • Through illustrated activity cards and interactive games, we’ll investigate the challenges of hunting and escaping, learning how predators and prey rely on different strategies to survive.
  • We’ll meet some of nature’s best “masters of disguise” through images, observation, and fun surprises, discovering who is really hiding and how they imitate the world around them.
  • Finally, we’ll unleash our creativity in a hands-on workshop, designing and making our own wildlife-inspired masks using colours, natural materials, and plenty of imagination.
